"I believe each house has a soul, an essence that one connects with. I have a passion for decorating and designing which began when I was a child. I would drive my parents …
“For over a year, I researched and read as much as I could about home staging training courses and kept coming back to the Staging Diva Program. Debra’s course and philosophy helped me determine how I wanted to run my own business and present myself as a home stager.”
“I feel much more prepared to handle the less ‘creative’ side of home staging now. You can be a great home stager, but unless you can effectively promote yourself, you’re not going to be able to operate a profitable business.”

Staging Diva’s tips for researching home staging training programs
Since home staging is a completely unregulated industry, anyone can offer home staging courses. The first step is to do a Google search for the name of any training company you’re interested in and also the name of the person who will be training you. You’re looking for:
- A track record in the industry (did they just pop out of nowhere within the last year?)
- Reviews from home staging students who have taken their programs
- Evidence that they’re an expert beyond what they say on their own sites (for example, have they been featured in the media?)
- Evidence of contributions to the industry (for example to they share lots of information to educate the public about home staging, real estate agents and home stagers?)
It’s important to do your due diligence, but be careful not to research the topic to death. This is just a way of procrastinating when the next step is a little “scary”!
You may spend countless hours looking at home stager websites or reading posts in home staging groups on Active Rain, Facebook or LinkedIn. It may feel like you’re moving forward with your home staging business because you’re gathering information. But eventually you will realize that you haven’t actually done anything!
